LACS helps Bay Area parents nurture joyful leaders who positively influence the world in a Christ-centered community.

Our Los Altos Kindergarten program equips the students with the skills necessary to achieve success spiritually, academically and socially.  

Key components of the kindergarten program include:

  • High academic standards in a loving, Christian environment.
  • Small class sizes – approximately 15:1 student to teacher ratio. .
  • A calm and peaceful classroom that fosters joy in learning.
  • An engaging school environment, with a multi-sensory approach to teaching. 
  • Specialized teachers for Art, Computer Lab, Music, PE, STEAM Robotics Lab.
  • Social emotional learning prioritizes problem-solving and character development, nurturing not just academic growth but also the essential skills for lifelong success and well-rounded individuals.

 

The program provides many learning experiences that help students develop skill sets in many areas while aspiring toward Christ-like behavior. The kindergarten program ensures students acquire:

  • The building blocks of literacy: phonics instruction is evidence based, grounded in the science of reading.
  • An understanding of numerical patterns and relationships through hands-on activities.
  • Science and Social Studies knowledge; higher vocabulary levels and problem-solving skills.
  • Dance, art, and music appreciation designed to inspire vivid imaginations.
  • Caring and responsible behavior that impacts all areas of life.

Kindergarten at a Glance:

Kinder Bell Schedule: Full day educational program from 8:30am-2:00pm. 

Extended Day Care: We offer Kinder Daycare from 2:00-3:00pm, as well as Extended Day Care from 3:00-6:00p.m.  

Parent Involvement: LACS welcome parent involvement and we provide a variety of opportunities for you to participate in our classrooms and in our school community, however LACS does not require mandatory volunteer hours per family.

Kinder Special Events: Examples are 1st Day celebration, 100 Days celebration, 1st/4th grade buddies, Capel attendance, participation in the Christmas musical, International day celebrations, Kinder Graduation ceremony, just to name a few. 

Kinder Field Trips: Lemos Farm Pumpkin Patch, Youth Science Institute at Vasona Park, De Anza Planetarium.

Gesell Screening: All students admitted to the program are required to participate in the Gesell screening prior to acceptance. All screenings are administered by our Kindergarten teacher. Kindergarten candidates must be 5 by September 1 of the year of entry.
