Spiritual Life

Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. 5 Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. 6 Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus…

13 I can do all things through him (Christ) who strengthens me.

Philippians 4:4-7 & 13 (NIV)

The Spiritual Life program at Los Altos Christian Schools (LACS) provides support for students as they grow in their understanding of God and themselves.  We are grounded on the principles that faith is important and is complementary to our academics. Essentially, we believe that all truth is God’s truth. The LACS staff seeks to facilitate spiritual dialogue and growth in a context that is safe, productive, and transformative.

As part of the transformative process, we offer weekly chapel services to our students in age groups that share a common theme to help connect kids to Christ, but with messages presented for their specific stage in life, separated by grades K-5 and grades 6-10.

In addition to weekly chapel services, we hold All School Chapel services throughout the school year which include our entire preschool through 10th grade learning community. These special events are excellent opportunities to highlight our connections with one another in Christ. All LACS parents are encouraged to attend these special services. We are family at LACS, and we believe that it is important for the family to gather together.

Our middle and high school Chapels now include small, single sex, teacher led and student centered Advisory Groups. Within these groups, students gather to discuss matters of faith and life guided by teachers and administrative staff. It is our belief that these smaller group opportunities help to facilitate more personal dialogue and prayer, leading to greater transformation of the individual and our middle school learning community.  We desire to intentionally grow our students in leadership, academics, character, and service, and Advisory Groups play a part in achieving this mission.

Student Ministries Center

Our newly renovated Student Ministries Center (SMC) serves our middle school chapel throughout the academic year and serves as a place of connection for students. The SMC is a place where our middle and high school students can go during breaks, that is set apart from their hectic daily schedule. It’s a place for students to come together for a time of connecting with peers, teachers, and administration. LACS believes in integrating a thorough knowledge of God’s love through His Son, Jesus Christ, into all aspects of the school’s life.
