Nikolay Abkairov, Parent Prayer Coordinator

Nikolay came to the Lord in 1995 and served in children, orphans and deacon ministries at Zelenograd Baptist Church. He holds a Masters degree in Robotics from the Moscow University of Electronic Technology. He worked as a software developer in communications-related startups, and more recently as CTO at Qik. Previously, he was Director of Consumer Video Technology at Skype. While traveling for business, Nikolay first attended BCC in 2004. Nikolay and his wife, Katy, moved to the San Francisco Bay Area and became members of BCC in 2013. Their four children enjoy attending LACS/LACP: Daniel (5th grade), Amy (4th), Tim (1st), Jesse (preschool). At LACS, Nikolay and Katy are responsible for the parents’ prayer group, interceding for the needs of the school, staff, and students. At home, their family ministry is building a game app that teaches children about the Bible in an interactive way. It is called “SunScool.” Nikolay also serves on the board of Wycliffe Russia.

Yari Toleno, PAWS Representative

Yari was born and raised in Southern California. Graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications emphasis in Advertising from California State University at Fullerton. Yari spent the majority of her career working for various nonprofits specializing in fundraising, marketing and event planning. Yari and her husband Brian decided it was time for her to focus on their family and two daughters, Yari became a stay at home parent. Soon Yari was volunteering for her daughter’s schools, moms club and cheer squad. Heavily involved in their church, Calvary Chapel Chino Hills, Brian and Yari led a couple life group. Yari was also involved with other church activities such as MOPS, BLOOM and various Bible Studies. The Lord decided we were too complacent in our little Christian bubble and uprooted us to Silicon Valley. Within a year Yari was a volunteer, then eventually the PTA president at Regnart Elementary, being on the PTA executive board for 5 years while Siena attended school there. Yari was recognized for her tremendous volunteer work receiving the prestigious, PTA Golden Oak Service Award. Yari is also a Girl Scout Troop leader and serves as a leader on the local Girl Scout service council. Yari and Brian have two daughters, Angela (24), a kindergarten teacher in South San Francisco and Siena (13) is a 7th grader attending LACS.

Yari is currently the LACS PAWS President and active volunteer. You will most likely see her and Brian on the pool deck watching Siena play water polo at various tournaments during the weekend or selling Girl Scout cookies.

Fritz Mueller

Fritz Mueller and his wife, Cathy, have been members of Bridges for over 25 years and have three children that all attended Bridges. Fritz has served at Bridges as an Elder, in children’s Sunday school, AWANA, and as a leader and teacher in Adult Life Groups. On two occasions Fritz, Cathy and their children have been on short term missions trips with Club Dust building houses in Mexico. After earning his Computer Engineering degree from the University of Michigan Fritz moved to the Bay Area and soon after became a Christian. He has spent his professional career with multiple software and networking companies in Silicon Valley in engineering, product management and most recently as the co-founder of a software company.

Nate Schofield

Nate joined the Bridges Community Church staff in 2014, and currently serves as the Worship Pastor. He was born and raised in Northern California, and currently lives in the South Bay Area with his wife Kacey and their two kids. Before entering full-time ministry, Nate was a middle school band and theater director for almost a decade.

Nate holds an MDiv from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, a Certificate in Bible Teaching from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary, an MA in Educational Administration and Leadership and a BM in Music Education both from University of the Pacific.

Christy Cole

Christy has been a member of Bridges Community Church since 1968. She graduated from Biola University with a BA in Liberal Studies and a California teaching credential. While working for the Palo Alto Unified School District she attended San Jose State University completing her Master’s course work in Education / Elementary with an emphasis in Reading.

Christy taught 4th grade before having her first child. She began her substitute teaching career at LACS when it began in 1981. She has continued to be a substitute teacher at LACS on and off over the past 40 years in K-8, Traditional and LAD classes.

Christy has always loved working with students, both in academic and service areas, from nursery through post college, but her passion is elementary students.

Christy is married to Brad and they have two adult daughters and three grandchildren. She and Bard serve in the Children’s Ministry at Bridges Community Church teaching 4 th & 5 th graders on Sunday mornings.
