Tim Logan, Board President
Tim Logan is a long time member of Bridges Community Church, since coming to California in 1972. He is the son of a Baptist minister and has followed the Lord Jesus since the age of eight. He studied at the University of Washington; earning degrees in Aeronautics and Astronautics and Industrial Engineering. He has served Bridges Church as an Elder of the church, enjoys singing in the choir, and is a Life Group teacher. In 2007 he led a short-term mission trip to Romania and went to Brazil in 2010. Also, he served for three years as chaplain of the Foothill Camp of The Gideons International. He was a Facility Support Manager at Lockheed Martin in Sunnyvale before retiring.
Tim met his first wife, Becky, in the single’s group at Bridges. When she passed away in 2001 he was very grateful to the church for their overwhelming love and support. He has three grown children, Jon, Karen, and Julie; all of whom attended Los Altos Christian School, have graduated from college and are happily married. God has blessed Tim with a second wife, Barbara, who is a Deaconess at Bridges Church, and with eight young grandsons. He lives in Santa Clara.
Steve Durand, BCC Pastoral Representative
Steve holds a BA from Baylor University and a Master’s from Southwestern Seminary. Steve is the Pastor of Family Ministries at Bridges Community Church (BCC) in Los Altos.
Prior to coming to BCC, Steve served as a Pastor of Youth & Music at a church in East Texas, as the Executive Director of a grassroots nonprofit organization devoted to motivating and training men to become more involved in their children’s lives, and as the Director of Fatherhood Programming for a pregnancy resource center. He and his wife Shannon are also trained marriage educators and have frequently spoken together at marriage conferences and seminars. Steve and Shannon have three children, Tate (10th), Ryah (9th), C.J. (7th), who have all either are or have attended LACS.
Steve believes that LACS has top-notch faculty, staff, and administrators who are uniquely called and gifted by God to impact the lives of children and families. His hope is that every student will not only grow academically, socially, and emotionally during their time at LACS, but that they would also connect with God, experience His love, and become lifelong followers of Him.
John T. Yue, Major Projects Coordinator
John is a retired semiconductor veteran, serving in senior vice president positions at TSMC, AMD, and OVT. He holds a Ph.D. & Masters in physics from Stanford University, a B.S. in physics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a MBA in Finance from SMU. John has been a member of Bridges Community Church (BCC) since 1984. He is active in the church orchestra (plays violin), served as Life Group officer, and volunteered as part time Adult Sunday School teacher. He is an Elder of BCC, the committee chairmen for Child Evangelism Nor Cal Silicon Valley Chapter and an officer in the Reasons to Believe San Jose Chapter.
John has a passion for evangelism and sharing the gospel to the un-churched. With his involvement in Child Evangelism and Reasons To Believe organizations, LACS provides another opportunity for him to further that passion and to share his working experience in the high tech industry.
John is married to Yao-Eng. Four children: sons Christopher (wife Wang Lin) & Justin; daughters Wen-Chih (LACS alumna), (husband Matt) and Wen-Ai (LACS alumna), (husband Bill); Grandson Kian.
John’s goal for LACs is that it would continually grow to be the Christian school of choice in the Silicon Valley with the most excellent academic education possible for students at the preschool through 8th grade level.
Nikolay Abkairov, Parent Prayer Coordinator
Nikolay came to the Lord in 1995 and served in children, orphans and deacon ministries at Zelenograd Baptist Church. He holds Master’s degree in Robotics from the Moscow University of Electronic Technology. He worked as a software developer in communications-related startups, lately as a CTO at Qik and then as a Director of Consumer Video Technology at Skype. While traveling for work on business trips, Nikolay first attended BCC in 2004.
Nikolay and his wife, Katy, moved to Bay Area and became members of BCC in 2013. Their 4 children enjoy attending LACS/LACP: Daniel (5th grade), Amy (4th), Tim (1st), Jesse (preschool). At LACS, Nikolay and Katy are responsible for the parents’ prayer group, interceding for the needs of the school, staff, and students. At home, their family ministry is building a game app that teaches children about the Bible in an interactive way, it’s called “SunScool”. Nikolay is also serving on the board of Wycliffe Russia.
Helena Lin, HR Coordinator
As a leader in human resources for more than 20 years, Helena Lin cares deeply about organizational effectiveness and people, leading by example to inspire others to do their very best. Currently a Senior Director of Human Resources at NVIDIA, Helena has led company-wide initiatives, hired successful C-level executives, coached and mentored executives and employees, and led meaningful employee engagement efforts. Helena holds a Master’s degree in Labor and Industrial Relations and a Bachelor’s in Psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Helena and her husband, Daniel Chang, and daughter, Hannah, became members of BCC in summer of 2017. Hannah has been with LACS since pre-school and is currently a student in the lower elementary. Together, Helena, Daniel and Hannah serve the Lord in various ways including short-term missions in Kyrgyzstan, support missionaries in the Middle East and Asia, and partner with Christian organizations to support children in Vietnam and Brazil. Daniel also plays the oboe with the BCC orchestra.
Helena’s vision for LACS is to first: build each student to become the leaders in their community, deeply rooted in their Christian faith, and serve the Lord with all their hearts, minds and souls; and second, LACS is a school that inspires creativity and innovation, fosters diversity in ideas and teamwork in the classroom, and above all, equip each individual to confidently speak up for their faith and fulfill the greatest mission to make fishers of men and women.
