Karen McKeown
Karen McKeown has enjoyed working in education for two decades as a teacher, instructional coach, and administrator. She has extensive training in Social Thinking, the Wilson Reading System’s "Just Words," Constructing Meaning, Step Up to Writing, Readers and Writers Workshop, SIOP (Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol), and Systematic ELD. She is experienced in meeting the needs of all students, including but not limited to Gifted and Talented, Special Education, and English Language Learners. Karen is particularly familiar with the learning needs of students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and has a well-developed sense of humor.
Karen holds a Master’s degree in Educational Administration from UC Berkeley. She has won multiple teaching awards, but most importantly, she treasures the thank-you notes she has received from students, families, and colleagues. She also has a child who attends LACS.
