Extended Day Care Program (EDC)

EXTENDED DAY CARE (EDC)

Extended Day Care (EDC) at Los Altos Christian School provides a safe, welcoming place for students before and after the school day. Families can count on consistent supervision, structured homework time, and opportunities for students to relax, play, and connect with friends in a supportive, well-supervised environment.

Our staff intentionally creates a space where students feel known and cared for while enjoying a healthy balance of homework support, creative activities, and outdoor play. EDC helps bridge the transition between school and home so students end their day feeling supported, engaged, and part of the caring community families expect from LACS.

Program Hours

Morning EDC: Monday–Friday, 7:30–8:15 a.m. in the Gym
After School EDC: Begins 15 minutes after dismissal and runs until 6:00 p.m., Monday–Friday

Program Details

EDC is a flexible drop-in program for LACS students. Families may use the program whenever care is needed, whether for a short time or a longer afternoon. Approved guardians must sign students out directly with EDC staff. Families are billed monthly based on total hours used.

After School EDC Schedule

After dismissal, students are checked into EDC by staff and enjoy approximately one hour of supervised outdoor free play. Students then move to classrooms in Peterson Hall for homework time. Staff members are available to encourage and support homework completion, though they do not provide tutoring. After homework is finished, students may participate in board games, crafts, and quiet activities until pickup.
