Dr. Emily Chen
Dr. Emily Chen joined LACS in January 2019 in response to God’s calling to teach middle and high school students and to serve in a Christian school community. Her teaching career started at the university level, but she soon found her passion and true calling as a math and science teacher at the middle and high school levels.
Dr. Chen’s pedagogical approach is to focus on inspiring and cultivating students’ interests and encouraging them to raise questions in science and math, practice logical thinking, and ultimately to appreciate God’s wonderful creation. Dr. Chen holds a B.S. in Medical Technology from National Taiwan University and a Ph.D. in Biological Science from University of California, San Francisco. She completed her post-doctoral research fellowship with the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at Stanford University.
Over the years, Dr. Chen has faithfully served in children’s ministry and as a member of her church’s choir. In her free time, she loves to travel, hike or go on walks with her family and friends. She also loves to read, expand her knowledge of science, solve Sudoku problems, sing and play the piano.
