Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 17, 2026

Last updated: August 17, 2026

Los Altos Christian Schools (“LACS,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the website at www.lacs.com. We care about the privacy of the families, students, alumni, donors, and visitors who use our site, and this policy explains in plain language what information the website collects, how we use it, and the choices you have.

This policy covers the LACS website only. It does not cover information the school collects offline, through enrolled-family systems, or in the course of educating enrolled students, all of which are governed by our enrollment agreements and school handbooks.

Information You Give Us

The website has several forms. When you choose to fill one out, we collect what you type into it. Depending on the form, that may include:

  • Your name
  • Your email address and phone number
  • The grade level or school year you are interested in
  • How you heard about LACS
  • Your child’s first name, if you choose to provide it (optional)
  • Whether you are interested in our Literacy Intervention Program
  • Anything you write in an open message or comment field

You are never required to use these forms. You can always reach us by phone or in person instead.

Information About Children and Families

Because we are a school, we want to be especially clear about this.

Our website is designed for parents, guardians, and other adults. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly ask children to submit personal information through it. The inquiry and application forms on this site are intended to be completed by an adult.

When a parent or guardian submits an inquiry form, that form may include information relating to a prospective student, such as the grade level being considered, your child’s first name if you choose to give it, or an interest in the Literacy Intervention Program. We treat that information the same way we treat any admissions inquiry: it is used to respond to you, to follow up about admissions, and to answer your questions about our programs. We do not sell it. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not use it to target advertising to you or to your child.

Information collected through this website is not a student education record. Records for enrolled students are maintained separately in the school’s student information system and are governed by our enrollment agreement and school policies rather than by this website policy.

If you believe a child has submitted personal information through this website, or if you would like us to delete an inquiry you submitted, contact us using the information at the end of this policy and we will remove it.

Information Collected Automatically

Like most websites, ours collects some technical information automatically when you visit:

  • Your IP address and general geographic area
  • Your browser type, device type, and operating system
  • The pages you visit on our site, and how long you spend on them
  • The site or search engine that referred you to us
  • If you reach us through an online ad or campaign link, the technical identifiers contained in that link (such as Google Ads click IDs and campaign tags) and the page you first landed on

We use this to understand how people find and use the site, to fix problems, and to keep the site secure.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website. Our site and the services listed below use cookies to remember your preferences and to measure how the site is used.

We also set a cookie that remembers how you arrived at our site — for example, whether you came from a search engine, an online advertisement, or another website. This helps us understand which of our efforts reach families like yours when you submit an inquiry. This information is tied to your inquiry so we can see where it came from; it is not used to build an advertising profile of you.

You can control cookies through your browser settings — most browsers let you refuse cookies, delete cookies already stored, or alert you when one is being set. Blocking cookies may affect how parts of the site work.

Third-Party Services We Use

We use a small number of outside services to run this site. Each collects information under its own privacy policy:

  • Google Analytics — measures website traffic and usage.
  • Google Tag Manager — manages the measurement tags that run on the site.
  • Google Ads — measures the results of our advertising, including whether an ad led to an inquiry.
  • Jetpack, by Automattic — provides site statistics, security, and performance features.
  • Akismet, by Automattic — filters spam from comments and form submissions.
  • Pressable, by Automattic — hosts the website and maintains standard server logs.

Some parts of our site link out to services operated by other organizations:

  • Online donations are processed by Fellowship One Giving. When you click to give, you leave our site and any payment information you enter is collected by that service, not by us.
  • Tuition, financial aid, and the family portal are handled by FACTS Management and RenWeb. These are separate systems with their own privacy policies and login credentials.

We do not receive or store payment card numbers through this website.

Comments

Some pages and posts on our site allow comments. If you leave one, we collect the name and email address you enter, your IP address, and your browser information, which helps us detect spam. Comments may be visible to other visitors, so please do not include private information about yourself or your child in a comment.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information described above to:

  • Respond to your inquiry, question, or request
  • Provide information about admissions, programs, and school events
  • Send periodic updates, announcements, and event invitations about the school, which you can opt out of at any time
  • Send our newsletter, if you asked to receive it
  • Acknowledge and record charitable gifts
  • Understand how the website is used so we can improve it
  • Protect the site against spam, abuse, and security threats
  • Meet our legal and accounting obligations

We Do Not Sell Your Information

LACS does not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not trade, rent, or otherwise transfer personal information to outside parties for their own marketing purposes.

We share information only with the service providers described in this policy, who process it on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes; when you direct us to, such as by asking us to connect you with a parent ambassador; and where we are required to by law or where necessary to protect the safety of our students, staff, or community.

Your Choices

  • You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Contact us using the details below and we will respond within a reasonable time.
  • You can unsubscribe from our newsletter and other marketing emails at any time using the link in any email we send.
  • You can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites using Google’s browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
  • You can manage or block cookies through your browser settings.

Do Not Track

Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” setting. There is no common industry standard for how websites should respond to it, and our website does not currently respond to Do Not Track signals. We are telling you this because California law requires websites to disclose their practice, whatever it is.

We do not allow third parties to collect personally identifiable information about your online activities over time and across different websites when you visit our site.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect the information collected through this site, including hosting the site on a managed, security-monitored platform and limiting access to form submissions to staff who need it. No method of transmitting information over the internet is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Links to Other Websites

Our site links to other websites, including our giving platform, our family portal, and pages operated by other organizations. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites, and we encourage you to read their privacy policies before providing them with information.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be noted on the page itself.
