Why Los Altos Christian Schools Junior Kindergarten Program?

Junior Kindergarten is where the excitement of learning begins!  Los Altos Christian Schools (LACS) offers an innovative educational experience for our earliest elementary learners.  We provide an innovative education experience, challenging students both academically and developmentally.  Our talented kindergarten team of educators engages and nurtures students by encouraging children to be inquisitive, think critically, and become independently motivated learners.

In Junior Kindergarten, children prepare for school with kindergarten-level learning experiences in language arts, literacy, science, social studies, the arts, and math.  Children develop conceptual understanding, procedural skill, and fluency enabling them to build their math confidence.

Social-emotional learning

Social-emotional learning (SEL) is paramount during kindergarten.  In weekly social group, students learn key skills in the following areas:

  • Behavioral (behaving in socially appropriate ways, which fosters learning)
  • Feelings(understanding others’ emotions and regulation of one’s own emotions)
  • Critical thinking (regulation of thoughts, focus, and attention)

Students build a strong foundation of biblical knowledge by studying God’s Word through a meaningful integrated teacher-led curriculum.  Biblical principles are woven into all subjects.  Students will memorize scripture and learn how to apply Christian principles to their daily lives.

The Kindergarten teachers are loving and cheerful, and really know how to get the best out of the children. I’ve never seen them raise their voice, and yet the kids listen to them very well. Academics are strong, and you get feedback often. I feel truly blessed to have my daughter in a class with so much love.
