Middle School Update 10.21.16

Dear Middle School Parents,

It is hard to believe today is the end of the first quarter of the 2016-2017 school year.  Our middle school teachers are finalizing grades in their online gradebooks, and our Registrar and administrative team will be working on reviewing each student’s information so that report cards will be emailed and available in RenWeb by Friday, October 28th as listed on the school calendar.

It is an honor to work alongside our gifted MS Lead Teacher, Wendy Lawner, and the rest of our caring and competent middle school teaching staff.  Many teachers and students recently returned from our outward bound middle school trips including 6th Grade Science Camp, 7th Grade Kidder Creek Adventure, and 8th Grade East Coast Trip.  These trips provided educational opportunities outside of the traditional classroom which engaged the hearts and expanded the minds of our students and brought greater unity to each middle school class.  Please join me in giving special thanks to our teachers for their dedication.  Whether guiding our children through a milestone trip away from home, carefully molding daily learning in class within a modified block schedule, or providing insightful spiritual and life lessons through our new Chapel and Advisory Group program, I am sure you will agree that Los Altos Christian Middle School is a special place with amazing teachers and staff.

As you know, our teachers plan excellent weekly lessons that integrate biblical concepts and engage students through a research based and multi-modal approach to education.  Our middle school teachers are dedicated to helping students understand each lesson, be able to speak about what they are learning, and have the confidence to apply their knowledge in various formats.  In addition to this, our middle school teachers provide dedicated Team Time after school each week where students are encouraged to visit them to get help with homework, study for tests and quizzes, and make up any work missed.  Helping your student to learn and grow is the number one priority of our middle school staff, so please contact your student’s teacher if you would like to know more about their particular Team Time schedule.

On Monday, November 21st and Tuesday, November 22nd, we are offering the opportunity for you as parents to meet with your student’s middle school teachers to conference over academics and growth through the first quarter.   Conferences times will be available on these dates from 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

No make-up conferences may be requested.

To set up a 15 minute conference with up to 3 teacher(s) you most want to speak with, please call into the main office beginning Monday, October 24th at 9:00 a.m. at (650) 948-3738, and ask for a time window in your preferred teacher’s conference schedule.  Conference requests will be taken as parents call in on a first come first-severed basis each day through Thursday, November 10th.

Cathy Robinson will also be offering 15 minute conferences for all LAP students’ families to review individual student goals and accommodation check-lists for those who would like to meet with her.  Please make your request to meet with Cathy known when you call.

On behalf of our entire administrative and teaching team at Los Altos Christian Schools, we pray that your family enjoys a great fall season.  We look forward to continuing to serve you and your student.
